Clegg parents play a major role in fostering the sense of family and community that makes Clegg School a place where children want to come and learn everyday. The very active and involved parent community is comprised of and supported by 368 Parent Teacher Association (PTA) members. On a daily basis, parents support learning by volunteering to work with small groups, assisting with instructional materials, and preparing projects. PTA provides funds for Art Masters, field trips, teacher mini-grants, Red Ribbon Week, Student of the Month pizza, assemblies such as Walk Through California, Walk Through the American Revolution, Meet the Musicians, and Imagination Machine. In addition, they sponsor events such as family campouts, science night, Barnes and Noble reading night, lunch on the lawn, movie night, carnival, reading reward day, family baseball night, bingo night, book fair, t-shirt sales, yearbook, and the Jack Show. It is this commitment to community involvement that has led Clegg alumni to remain or intentionally move back into the neighborhood so that they can send their own children to a school that nurtures a family environment.
